About Hillingdon Stroke Support
Who We Are

Stroke Support Hillingdon is a volunteer-led social and support group dedicated to helping stroke survivors and their carers across the Hillingdon Borough. We are proud to be affiliated with the Stroke Association as a SAVG group, providing a trusted and welcoming space for people to share their experiences, rebuild confidence, and regain independence.
Our team of volunteers is committed to creating an inclusive and friendly environment, where every member is supported on their journey after a stroke.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to reduce isolation, provide practical support, and improve the quality of life for stroke survivors and their carers. Through social activities, recovery exercises, advice, and outings, we aim to empower members to regain confidence, independence, and connection with their community.
What We Do

-
Weekly Support Group Meetings: Recovery-focused activities, friendly quizzes, speech practice, memory exercises, hand–eye coordination activities, and social interaction.

-
Advice & Guidance: We connect members with services like Carers Trust, Age UK, and local support hubs to ensure everyone gets the help they need.

-
Day Trips & Activities: Outings at reduced costs, offering opportunities for independence, enjoyment, and social connection.

-
Respite for Carers: Structured activities provide carers with valuable time to access services, rest, or simply recharge.

-
Person-Centred Support: We help members overcome barriers related to travel, communication, or technology by linking them to appropriate organisations.

Why We Matter
Stroke changes lives—not just for survivors, but for their families and carers too. Community groups like ours are essential in supporting long-term recovery and providing emotional, social, and practical assistance.
By offering a friendly and inclusive environment, we help members regain confidence, access essential resources, and continue to live full, meaningful lives after stroke.

Our Vision
We aim to be a trusted point of contact for stroke survivors, families, and health professionals in the Hillingdon Borough. We aspire to expand our reach so that no stroke survivor feels isolated and every member can benefit from ongoing support, companionship, and opportunities for growth.

Get Involved
Whether you’re a survivor, a carer, a volunteer, or someone who wants to support our work, there are many ways to get involved. Your time, skills, or donations help us continue providing essential services and expanding our community impact.
